NationForge — A Multi-City Strategy Builder About Interdependent Cities

NationForge is a strategy city builder where no city can grow alone.

You don’t build a single megacity.
You build a network of specialized cities, each playing a role in the growth of an entire nation.

Your long-term objective is to grow your nation to 500,000 population within 30 years by carefully managing production, logistics, and policy decisions.

How the Game Works

Each city is founded with a specific purpose:

  • A forest town that produces planks for construction

  • A fertile farming city that supplies food

  • A mining town extracting ores

  • An industrial city converting ores into manufactured goods

Cities depend on each other.
Resources must be transported between them to enable growth.

You design the logistics:

  • Build roads, railways, and shipping routes

  • Create trade routes specifying what resource moves where

  • Assign trucks, trains, or ships to keep cities supplied

As cities receive more resources, population increases and new opportunities unlock.

Expansion & Progression

Growth doesn’t stop at one region.

  • Acquire new land

  • Found additional cities

  • Introduce new resource chains

  • Unlock policies to boost population, increase production, or enable advanced buildings

Every new resource integrated into your network pushes your nation closer to its population goal — or exposes weaknesses in your logistics.

What to Try in This Build (10–15 minutes)

If you’re playtesting, here’s a simple starting experiment:

  • Build a forest city producing ~200 planks per tick

  • Build a farming city producing ~500 vegetables per tick

  • Create a route to send planks to the farming city for construction

  • Create another route to send vegetables back to the forest city

  • Watch both cities grow by feeding each other

Next steps, add more cities to produce prefabs, steel & bitumen required for construction. Check for your citizens needs and provide required resources and services.

  • Multi-city logistics

  • Resource-driven population growth

  • Route setup and transport balancing
